A few years ago I looked at various Nile Cruises and booked myself to go on one, it was a great way to see Egypt in all its glory, meet its people, landscapes, monuments and wildlife.

Cairo is seen as the gateway to Egypt, the sand on the streets serve as a reminder of the surrounding desert. The city full of tradition, customs and friendly people.

My view of the pyramids (Cheops, Khafre and Menkaure) was something I’ll never forget. The large and imposing Sphinx completes the mythical image of the old and former Egypt. After seeing the pyramids I would suggest a visit to the Citadel of Saladin, the home of the Alabaster Mosque and the famous Egyptian Museum.

After flying from Cairo to Luxor, we embarked on our cruise on the Nile stopping at various points including the temple of Luxor and then the grand temple of Karnak. Both of these Egyptian temples convey the feeling of size, wealth, space and the greatness of their conception. The following day we travelled further on our Nile Cruise and visited Necropolis with its more than 60 monumental tombs. The tomb is known as the Valley of the Kings.

Further on the Nile Cruise we travelled to Esna which continues on to Edfu. It is here where you learn about the close relationship between the Nile and Egypt, it marks every moment in Egypt’s history. The Nile Cruises take you to the temple Edfu, where people of all Egypt came to worship Horus, the god symbolised by the wings of a hawk. We then went on to Kom Ombo, visible itself from the Nile. This temple was dedicated to Sobek the God of crocodiles and Horus. If you get the chance to go on one of these Nile Cruises I would certainly recommend it. At the end of the Nile Cruise we flew to Cairo and back again to the UK – the views and memories I have from this Nile Cruise will stay long in my memory.

I am a huge music buff and have been trying to find a better way of getting tickets for the concerts coming this year. With so many on line and on land places to buy from it can get confusing where to buy from. My line up includes Bon Jovi, James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet, and U2. With all the different tickets for sale I really don’t know where to buy them from. Every place I visit they claim to have the lowest prices but I have a hard time believing them. With all the awesome artists coming I want to make sure I get the bang for my buck. If you have any recommendations of places you usually get your tickets from please let me know.

Whenever there is an event or a business with high volume foot traffic there is also a need for crowd control. People come to depend on stanchions and barricades to offer orderliness and safety. Businesses rely on these tools to help them execute their business quickly and efficiently.

Stanchions are a versatile and even stylish way to direct human traffic and control volumes of people in a specific area. Events from concerts to clubs can position stanchions to accommodate the anticipated crowd by directing lines straight or in a switchback fashion. Stanchions come in colors and styles that can serve even elegant needs with velvet ropes and decorative finials. Sturdy stanchions are available with retractable tapes so you can easily adjust the distance from stanchion to stanchion. These are often found in banks, libraries and stores so they can be configured according to their daily needs.

Barricades are helpful for security and directing traffic. Whether it is existing space that needs reshaping or an open area that needs sturdy walling to create a usable space, barricades can be placed to fit those needs. Events will often use barricades to direct auto and foot traffic to ticket booths, parking areas and concession stands. Barricades can be used on parade routes or to close streets for repair. Barricades can also be camouflaged with decorative elements to provide safety for vulnerable store fronts or business buildings. When safety and higher security is the goal, barricades can be an aesthetic and cost effective choice.

There are so many options when it comes to home television service. Remember when the only choice was between the networks? Now television has global access and so many bells and whistles it can be quite confusing. Gone are the days of adjusting the rabbit ears to get a program you want to see. Television signals are still available without charge to those who added digital boxes to their televisions but your programming choices are limited to only the local channels your area can receive. For the most part, your best choices come from cable or satellite dish receivers.
Cable TV was the choice of most consumers about a decade ago. They were the only choice then if you wanted to have local channels for news and other network programming. Today cable providers can hook you up with HD, on demand movies and DVR services. Cable companies like timewarnercable.com and other smaller companies provided receiver boxes and installation. The consumer then could choose between different programming packages to suit their taste and pocketbook.
Satellite television has been the breakthrough service most recently. Satellite was the first to offer local programming, HD, DVR and on demand programming. Generally there are loads of channel packages to choose from with something for everyone. You can find out more at mytvoptions.com. The down side to satellite is that there can be interference from weather or solar flares.
The newest programming option being offered today is the “bundle”. Many companies like cox.com put together packages that include telephone and internet services along with television service. Often this approach can shave a few dollars off of each individual service to bring together an affordable “bundle”.

Sometimes I just want to know what is on TV without having to guess or scroll through endless descriptions on channels I have never heard of. When I’m short on time, I like to know what’s out there that interests me. I’m glad there is a free tv guide available online.

With a tv guide I can just look at the channels and shows I already know I like. On weekends, I like sports so I can use the tv guide to line up all of the sports channels I have and see what is on over a period of time. I can also customize my search for movies, news or whatever I am in the mood to watch. When I click on a show, I can get all of the details I want and decide which show to watch and which show to record. When programming is laid out like a spread sheet it is so much easier to read and follow making my tv time a no-brainer.

I am so glad I have satellite tv. And what a great deal since directv comes with free satellite dish installation . I know there is no way I could install a satellite dish by myself. It is awesome to have great service and loads of programming to choose from. Including HD channels!

In our area, our local phone company was offering some bundle that included cable tv. It seemed like a good deal at first then I checked out that cable company. They had hardly any channels and were very expensive. It made it easy to choose satellite after I saw how much more I would get for my money.

Installation was free and easy. The technician was very professional and knew all the government rules for installing a dish. He checked out all of the available areas where my dish could be most easily installed. He showed me which areas would be the most secure and get the signal the strongest. He even advised me about how snow could build up on the dish interferring with the signal. Together we made a good choice about where the dish should go and that was that. He even gave me some quick lessons on how to get the most out of my remote functions! He was done in less than an hour and I have been enjoying great tv ever since.

If you are still having a hard time deciding on a dish or cable for your tv programming, simply compare the two side by side. With a satellite dish you can get movies on demand, HD programs, DVR services – all this and your local stations too! It’s kind of a no-brainer.
