Television Choices

March 23rd, 2010

There are so many options when it comes to home television service. Remember when the only choice was between the networks? Now television has global access and so many bells and whistles it can be quite confusing. Gone are the days of adjusting the rabbit ears to get a program you want to see. Television signals are still available without charge to those who added digital boxes to their televisions but your programming choices are limited to only the local channels your area can receive. For the most part, your best choices come from cable or satellite dish receivers.
Cable TV was the choice of most consumers about a decade ago. They were the only choice then if you wanted to have local channels for news and other network programming. Today cable providers can hook you up with HD, on demand movies and DVR services. Cable companies like timewarnercable.com and other smaller companies provided receiver boxes and installation. The consumer then could choose between different programming packages to suit their taste and pocketbook.
Satellite television has been the breakthrough service most recently. Satellite was the first to offer local programming, HD, DVR and on demand programming. Generally there are loads of channel packages to choose from with something for everyone. You can find out more at mytvoptions.com. The down side to satellite is that there can be interference from weather or solar flares.
The newest programming option being offered today is the “bundle”. Many companies like cox.com  put together packages that include telephone and internet services along with television service. Often this approach can shave a few dollars off of each individual service to bring together an affordable “bundle”.
